Wood can swell, adhesives can fail, and laminate can delaminate when the humidity sits high all year. The repairs are expensive and disruptive. LVP's core is stone plastic composite or wood plastic composite, with no organic material to take on moisture, and it installs right over the concrete slab most of Maui is built on.
