Laminate Flooring: A Budget-Friendly Way to Get the Wood Look

Laminate flooring has quietly become one of the smartest budget-friendly options for homeowners who want the wood look without the wood price tag — and it's come a long way from the laminate of decades past. We're always happy to help a family stretch their budget without stretching the truth about what a product can do.

What Modern Laminate Gets Right

Today's laminate uses a high-resolution photographic layer under a tough wear coating, which means it can closely mimic the grain and color variation of real hardwood at a fraction of the cost. It also resists scratches and everyday wear better than many people expect, holding up well in busy households.

Where It Has Limits

Laminate can't be refinished the way solid hardwood can, and it's more sensitive to standing water than LVP, so it's not the best fit for bathrooms or rooms with heavy moisture exposure. For living rooms, bedrooms, and other everyday spaces where budget matters and moisture isn't a major concern, though, it's a genuinely solid option that delivers a lot of look for the cost.
