King Kamehameha Day: A Moment to Reflect on Island Heritage
June 15, 2026
June 11th is King Kamehameha Day, a state holiday honoring the man who united the Hawaiian Islands — and a meaningful moment for any business that's been fortunate enough to call Maui home for as long as we have.
What the Day Means to Us
Being a Maui company since 1973 means we've grown up alongside this island's culture, not apart from it. Kamehameha Day is a chance to pause and reflect on the heritage that shapes everyday life here — from the language woven into our neighborhoods' names to the values of aloha and kuleana, responsibility, that guide how we try to do business.
Carrying It Forward
We don't claim to be experts on Hawaiian history — we're a flooring and drapery company, not a cultural institution. But we do try to show respect for this place in small, genuine ways: showing up for our neighbors, taking care of the homes we're trusted with, and never forgetting that we're guests on this island as much as we are part of it.
