Hurricane Season Begins: An Early Home Readiness Checklist

June 1st marks the official start of hurricane season across the islands, and while it doesn't need to be a source of worry, it's exactly the kind of thing a good neighbor reminds you about. A little bit of early preparation now saves a lot of stress later.

Start With What You Can See

Walk your home and check the parts that would take the brunt of any storm — window treatments and their hardware, door seals, and any flooring near entry points that could be exposed to wind-driven rain. If a shutter or blind hasn't been operating smoothly, early June is a far better time to address it than during an actual storm watch.

A Simple, No-Panic Plan

Know where towels and any protective coverings are kept, understand which rooms are most exposed, and if you've been meaning to upgrade window treatments or flooring near vulnerable entry points, this is a good window to get it scheduled before things get busy.
