Loop Pile and Berber

Loop pile carpet is made of uncut fiber loops, which makes it durable and resistant to crushing — a good fit for high-traffic areas. Berber is a well-known style within that family, often with flecked coloring, and tends to hide dirt and footprints well, though snags can be more noticeable if a loop gets pulled.

Cut Pile

Cut pile carpet has its loops sheared at the top, giving it a softer, plusher feel — the kind most people picture for a bedroom or living room. It comes in a range of densities and twists, from a casual textured look to a more formal, velvety finish.
